This is the first ever tea cosy and flowers that I crocheted I gave it to my friend who was born in Liverpool but grew up in Canada. Daffodils are her favourite flowers, and she loves her cuppa. She was very touched to receive my gift, and says she clothed a very sentimental teapot her mother gave her many years ago with it. It is now proudly displayed in her kitchen window. It made me happy to make it, and to look at it. Now it makes me happy to think about the pleasure it gives my friend,  who shed a few tears for her mother who is still alive, but living in her own Alzheimer's world. When I bought this flower, I thought it was a daisy. At closer inspection it revealed itself to be a chrysanthemum! It is going to grace my next tea cosy, after I finish the pansies. Watch this space. Bless all the mothers, and to my own Mum who taught me everything I know: Keep on Knitting!

I am so proud of my very first tea cosy. It's not perfect, I had to figure out many things along the way, improvise and cheat But I'm in love with it!

The best place for a Sunday lunch is around your own table. Ideally, you should start Saturday evening, by putting the lamb in the oven for an  overnight slow bake, top and tail the green beans, and peel and chunk the pumpkin. My little desktop oven has a timer switch of one hour only, so that means either staying up very late or doing your baking in batches. So, this was my Saturday night prep: Only notice now that it looks as if something has taken a big bite out of the leg! hahaha maybe a wolf? Lay the leg down on a bed of Provençal herbs Lavender, Rosemary and Thyme. Stuff the leg with slivers of fresh garlic. To enhance the Mediterranean flavours, add  a bay leaf or two, and, if you were thinking ahead, some preserved lemons. Mine came out perfectly this time, and retained their sunny colour amazingly. I also added a sprinkling of my own home-made lavender-infused olive oil My two new baby Maidenhair Ferns...

Came rain or shine, trusty Lamma island always delivers quaint photo opportunities. Back on terra firma, I simply have to walk past Flannel Flowers and delight in the daily display. Hydrangeas were on the menu on Sunday, as well as the most magnificent maroon peonies. I have never seen this colour before and was sooooooooooo tempted to buy just one stem.   But at $150 HK each I had to resign myself to photographing them. I did, however make my first ever purchase at Flannel Flowers: 2 baby Maidenhair ferns. They are infamously temperamental and dislike being disturbed. So I have to select their spot carefully. The hydrangeas were spectacular. Peonies  More beautiful hydrangeas The biggest thistle I've ever seen. I'm going to try and crochet an orchid. I feel a tea cosy coming on!
